<note>Many teachers in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia have said that pupils whose family background is not Westernized prefer stories with a Chinese background. These stories have been written with this in mind and will be of particular interest to Chinese children who have studied English for about four years. The vocabulary and sentence structure have been kept simple. Each story is followed by questions testing comprehension and language skills which will help ease the load on the teacher.</note>
