Jàmbá: Journal of Disaster Risk Studies aims to engage, inform, and catalyse scholarly discourse within research and real–world practices that work towards the minimisation of vulnerabilities and disaster risks throughout developing communities with special emphasis on Africa. The intended focus of Jàmbá (meaning disaster in Yoruba) is on the African continent but also welcomes related articles from other regions.

Jàmbá is a trans–disciplinary publication in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction, aimed at serving as a platform for discussion and debate in this relatively new study field.

The journal publishes Original Articles, Opinion Papers and Book Reviews in English.

The journal publishes one issue each year. Articles are published online when ready for publication and then printed in an end-of-year compilation. On occasion a special issue may be published.
