<note>These 14 simple stories have been specially weitten for East Malaysian upper primary and lower secondary schools. A controlled vocabulary og around 1,300-1,500 words has been used, followng closely the officially approved World Lists for Malaysian National Schools. Sentence structures have also been kept simple and straight forward. The stories have been adapted from old legends and folktales of Serawak, Sabah and Brunai, and every care has been taken to ensure that they will be suitable for the Malaysian cultural and social background.</note>
